Welcome to a hands-on workshop on designing regenerative practices of architecture!

About the workshop

Interact Nordics is a platform investigating Nordic contemporary spatial practices that are innovative, experimental and critical. In a time of polycrisis, as young practitioners we’ve experienced how easy it is to feel paralyzed looking at the immensity of the issues of our time and the rigidity of the system. The platform exists for showcasing alternative ways of working, from collective models to circular building processes: recycled and natural materials, regenerative and socially engaged projects, or interdisciplinary design teams.

Is the compromise between ecological conviction and economic reality actually necessary, or just a habit worth questioning? What if nature came first in our practices too? That question sits at the heart of the workshop. Drawing on our own practices and on findings from Interact's interviews with Nordic architects, we'll introduce different context-specific approaches: self-organized and open-source platforms for building with reclaimed and natural materials, communication strategies, and project management.

The session is hands-on: we'll help you develop ideas and systems, and discuss how alternative practices of architecture can exist and interact. Come with your own questions, whether you already run an emerging practice, want to start one, build with ecological and social principles, or have project ideas but no clients yet.

Participants will work in small groups on realistic business models for their own practice or project, with the invited expert who participated in season 1, Trygve Ohren, offering feedback. All tools and solutions developed will be discussed with everyone afterward. The solutions and tools explored during the workshop will be collected and handed over to all participants for future use.

The workshop lasts three hours and includes a social break. Participation is limited to 16 people.

Armelle Breuil is an architect and founder of ACT!, a Franco-Norwegian studio working with socially and ecologically engaged architecture, reuse and natural materials.

Märta Carlsson is a spatial and furniture designer and member of Interact Nordics, interested in how design and collaborative building can activate existing places.

Levke Maria Danker
Levke Maria Danker is a Copenhagen-based architect and project manager working at the intersection of craftsmanship, art, politics and social sustainability.

Trygve Ohren / Nøysom arkitekter
Trygve Ohren is an architect, artist, curator and partner at Nøysom arkitekter, known for work with reuse, self-building and resident participation, including the Experimental Housing at Svartlamon.

Interact is a project initiated by ACT!. Joined by Märta Carlsson and Levke Maria Danker for the Swedish and Danish season, the project became a Nordic platform in 2026. The workshop will be led by Armelle Breuil and Levke Maria Danker, joined by Trygve Ohren (Architect, Nøysom Arkitekter and PhD candidate).
