From asphalt to urban nature
What if Oslo gave more space to trees, water and urban nature? Today Oslotrær and the Oslo Architecture Triennale fill Sofienberg Church with a full day on exactly that.
The day is about the road from good individual projects to systemic change. We look at streets, public spaces, school yards, housing co-operatives and business areas where asphalt and other hard surfaces have been replaced with blue-green, nature-based solutions, and we examine what works and what has to change in planning and financing.
Patrick Bellan comes from Malmö to talk about the city as an ecosystem. E.C. Forfang from SLA shows how urban nature can become infrastructure, drawing on Sankt Kjelds Plads in Copenhagen. Iwan Thomson from Lala Tøyen takes us through a project in practice, and Franziska Meisel from Henning Larsen and Ole Schrøder from Third Nature widen the view to Singapore, Paris and Copenhagen. After the panel conversations we head out on three parallel excursions in Sofienberg and Sofienbergparken.
Doors open at 8.00 am with coffee, and the Daily Sermon starts at 8.15. The programme runs until 4.30 pm. Free, and you are welcome to drop in for parts of the day.
