Start the day in the church pews!

In our regular programme fixture «today's sermon» we invite dedicated professionals up on the pulpit to present a challenge within the 2026 Triennale's title question – "What if Nature Comes First?" – and a solution. Drop by the Sofienberg Church in the morning hours and start the day with church coffee and a short lecture.

This morning we meet Kristin Bredal from the lighting design studio Zenisk, who will hold the sermon "Light and Life". In this sermon, she will talk about light and social sustainability in urban spaces. What if we actually felt safe and happy out in the darkness – what does it take?

Kristin Bredal is Creative Leader of Zenisk. Her work with urban twilight environments started with the Hammerfest lighting plan and the founding of Zenisk in 2009. She has been member of the Lighting Culture board and is member of the International Association of Lighting Designers' committee for Regulatory Affairs, that affect the EU lighting legislation. Bredal is engaged in urban development and environmental questions and is concerned with public lighting to strengthen identity and life quality in an climate friendly and sustainable way. She has workshops and lectures nationally and internationally, has contributed to making 30 larger lighting master plans and made several lighting guides. Bredal has a background from performing arts, and has designed lighting and scenography for more than 100 productions at large stages in Norway and internationally.
