The journey towards the 9th edition of the Triennale has officially begun
It’s (finally) on! This week we gathered a lot of people in our constituency – members, friends, partners, contributors, politicians and others – to mark the starting point of the 9th edition of the Oslo Architecture Triennale, launching both the opening date and the main venue for next year’s festival.

Transformative ideas in transformed church
Opening September 17, 2026, the Triennale – titled “What if Nature Comes First?” – will take place in the Sofienberg church.
The 1877 Gothic Revival brick church is currently in the process of being converted into a local culture arena through the idealistic work of the project Sofienbergprosjektet, who we are lucky to be collaborating with this time around to make the Triennale happen.
The church was full of people eager to hear Director Line Ramstad reveal some of the plans for next year's festival.
Sharing knowledge
After introductions from Sofienbergprosjektet and our own Director Line Ramstad, Professor Tine Hegli from the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Founding Partner Jørgen Tycho of Oslotre and Sian Ricketts, Sustainability Lead at the London-based architectural practice Carmody Groarke, shared their perspectives on our theme.
They all addressed barriers and potentials for achieving a sustainable architecture and building industry.
September 17 – save the date!
Thank you to everyone involved and for all of you supporting us so far, and to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affair for the generous support for the event.
This is just the beginning! More news to come.
