We already know the problem. The construction industry has understood for decades that its practices are incompatible with planetary limits. The gap is not our knowledge. It is the distance between what we know and what we actually build.

Oslo Architecture Triennial 2026 starts from a different question: what does it look like when nature is the premise, not an afterthought or an externality?

Through materials chosen for their origin and their second life, structures designed to outlast the market cycle, territories planned in dialogue with the landscape rather than against it, and systems that redistribute value beyond financial return, the work being done is already here.

We bring it all together at Sofienberg Church this September: exhibitions, seminars, city walks and conversations for practitioners, policymakers and everyone who shapes the built environment.

The first names for our exhibitions and talks are now confirmed:

  • Jonathan Grinham, Harvard University (US)
  • Arkitekter Uten Grenser (NO/Global)
  • House Europe (EU)
  • NSW Arkitekter (NO)
  • Studio DreiSt (AT)
  • Søren Pihlman (DK)
